Where Purpose meets Pressure: The Savanna Code for Women Leading in the Open

Why I Wrote The Savanna Code
For years, I’ve walked where conservation, tourism, and climate meet. I’ve sat in boardrooms as the lone woman, stood under old trees with communities, and watched good ideas bend under donor language and institutional politics. I have stumbled, been criticised, wanted to walk away and stayed. I roared. I rested. I passed the mic.
Along the way, I met women like you: brilliant, overworked, underestimated, holding ecosystems, communities, teams, and hope together. We didn’t need another abstract leadership book. We needed a field companion—honest about the cost, practical about the tools, hopeful enough to remind us we’re not alone.
The Savanna Code is that companion. It blends story, reflection, and nature-inspired wisdom with scripts, exercises, and frameworks for difficult conversations, criticism, boundaries, and decisions that honour mission and wellbeing. At its heart is a women-informed leadership ethos: strategic without becoming hardened, compassionate without becoming depleted, ambitious without abandoning the land, people, and values that called us. A woman who builds others and at is committed to living a legacy.

Who This Book Is For
This book is for women leading with courage, conviction, and care—whether or not a title has yet named your influence.
You may be a conservation manager balancing donors, communities, and ecosystems; an ecotourism founder building a business that regenerates rather than extracts; a climate advocate speaking justice in rooms not built for your voice; a funder translating vision into impact; a community organiser carrying hope after disappointment; a ranger, guide, researcher, fundraiser, communicator, executive, or practitioner working where people, purpose, and planet meet.
Field or boardroom, government or philanthropy, team of one or one hundred—what matters is not the title you hold, but the integrity, courage, and purpose with which you lead. If your heart beats for conservation, tourism, climate, community, or a more sustainable future, and you long to carry that work with wisdom and support rather than alone, this book is for you.
The Meaning of The Savanna Code
The savanna is both a biome and ecosystem: open grassland punctuated by scattered trees, shaped by seasonal extremes, visibility, interdependence, and adaptation. It is not empty space. Wet seasons bring abundance; dry seasons demand endurance. Life is exposed, aware, and deeply connected—grazers, predators, fire, water, soil, and vegetation in dynamic relationship.
The Savanna Code draws on this living system as a women-informed leadership ethos: strategic without becoming hardened, compassionate without becoming depleted, ambitious without abandoning the land, people, and values that called us. It is a field companion for leading where purpose meets pressure—with courage, clarity, and rootedness.
